Hi Journey North family & friends,
I’m writing to alert you to a decision our leadership team recently made in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As promised, we have been closely monitoring the spread of Coronavirus, now officially declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization.
// SERVICES CANCELLED
I wanted to let you know that out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel all weekend services (Sat-Sun, March 14-15) at The Journey North Church, however, we will host a LIVE ONLINE WEEKEND SERVICE via Facebook, Saturday at 5:00 pm. The health and safety of our congregation is our #1 priority, and this difficult decision was made to protect TJN families, volunteers, staff, and our broader communities.
As of today, there are no known cases of Coronavirus reported by anyone attending or affiliated with The Journey North Church. However, global experience is showing that social distancing is one of the best protections against the virus, which has the potential to spread rapidly in communities.
// CHURCH ONLINE
The good news is: We will be hosting a LIVE ONLINE WEEKEND SERVICE via Facebook, Saturday at 5:00 pm. We will then post the service online at The Journey North Church website and we want everyone to join us for our Treasure Principle series online this weekend! Not only can you experience the music and message from the comfort of home, our live services include a chat feature so you can connect with others, share prayer requests, and experience community online.
Simply use your computer or phone to join our service, which will be available in two places:
• Online at TheJourneyNorth.com
• Via Facebook Live
Praise God for technology! We are thankful that our church can worship together virtually, even if we can’t be together in person.
// FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
We also want to address some questions you may have:
Q: Has anyone at The Journey North tested positive for Coronavirus?
While there have been no cases of Coronavirus reported by anyone attending or affiliated with The Journey North Church, we believe it’s best to be proactive by cancelling services at all our campuses this weekend.
Q: I’m leading/participating in a Small Group. Should we still meet?
We are encouraging all Small Groups to meet together online and continue to support each other. In this digital age, you can continue to find community, care, prayer, and fellowship, even at a distance! There are a number of tools to help you – Google Hangouts Meet, GroupMe, What’sApp, Zoom, and more. Let’s be the church and continue to support each other like family online!
Q: Will church be cancelled next week as well?
The short answer is we don’t know yet. The situation with the Coronavirus is changing rapidly, and we’re committed to closely monitoring the situation to make those decisions week by week.
Q: How will The Journey North keep me updated?
We will be posting all updates to our website, TheJourneyNorth.com. We will also send weekly updates out via email, mobile app notifications, mass texting, and social media.
Friends, I want you to know that the decision to cancel weekend services is not one made out of fear, but a spirit of wisdom. In uncertain times, we continue to look to Jesus and draw confidence from our loving Abba Father who is sovereign over all things. Never forget: God’s got this!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
I realize this is a difficult time and your daily lives may be in flux– as workplaces, schools, and day-to-day activities shift. In the midst of this uncertainty, remember to draw your confidence from Christ.
I love you all and can’t wait to worship together again in person. Until then, I’ll see you online this weekend!
With confidence in Christ,
Pastor Lynfield Hines, Mark Bjorlo and Todd Lyscio
